University of Calgary researchers from various backgrounds have come together to collaborate on this post-graduation phase of the research project called Teachers Reflecting on Study Abroad.
Dr. Roswita Dressler Principal investigator Dr. Roswita Dressler is an Associate Professor in the Werklund School of Education and Director of the Teaching Across Borders (TAB) Program. This research study will allow her to see how teachers reflect upon their TAB experience now that they have started teaching. She is interested in both their personal and professional learning, especially as it pertains to second language teaching and learning. Kate Beamer Researcher Kate Beamer is a doctoral candidate in the Werklund School of Education, in the Curriculum and Learning specialization. Her focus is on curricular interventions for undisclosed childhood trauma survivors. Kate is also a recipient of SSHRC's Joseph-Armand Bombardier Doctoral scholarship and the Werklund Doctoral Award. Kate brings to us over a decade of research experience where she has worked as a research coordinator and ethical analyst. |
Dr. Colleen Kawalilak Co-Investigator Dr. Colleen Kawalilak is Professor and Associate Dean International, Werklund School of Education. She leads initiatives aimed to advance intercultural capacity and internationalization (at home and abroad). Dr. Kawalilak’s field of practice and scholarship resides in Adult Education/Adult Learning (formal, informal, and incidental learning) and engaging with differences, in a variety of work and learning contexts. Raina Schnider research assistant Raina Schnider is excited to be a part of this research that combines her passions for study abroad, reflective writing, and personal and professional growth. Raina is studying for a master's in applied linguistics in the area of child language acquisition and the multilingual environment. She has a BA in Linguistics and a BA in Spanish language (both from the University of Calgary). |
